What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger???
Looking back on my life, this simple quote makes me think? What doesn't kill you makes you what? Stronger? Happier? More peaceful? Smarter? I feel like you can put anything at the end of this statement.
My ending word has changed more times then I care to admit, as I suppose that yours has too.
Having a micro-premie....."What doesn't kill you makes you smarter?" I learned so much for our 5 month hiatus in the NICU. I witnessed so many miracles. This was a time that in my life that I was the most scared, for my life and for my baby. If you have never seen what a 1 pound, 23 week baby looked like outside of the womb, you wouldn't get how amazing of a place any NICU is. I am so thankful for all that I learned through my first miracle. I'm so thankful that God gave me her to make me stronger!
Having not one, but two strokes..... "What doesn't kill you makes you anxious?" This one took me awhile to really come up with. There's a long story with both of my strokes. My first stroke I was 27, I wasn't even thinking anything about strokes. My 2nd stroke was basically my own stupidity. But to this day, every little thing that happens inside my body makes me so anxious, and it takes me such a long time to talk myself out of thinking I'm going to die.
Watching your children grow up and make adult decisions.... "What doesn't kill you, might kill you?" Okay, not really, but this is the stage I'm at in my life, and wow, this is a struggle. You hope more then anything that you raise kids that don't make the same mistakes you did. My two oldest have now graduated high school and they are making those very important life-changing decisions. If you've been through this yourself I know that you completely understand what I'm facing. After a hard 24 hours I finally decided to give it all to God. This scripture came up in my reading, Phillipians 4:8-9. "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me - put it practice. And the God of peace will be with you." So, when I finally gave it to God, I do have more peace about some of those decisions, not because I agree with them, but because like my life, God will find a way to use it.
I could go on and on about different situations that might fit into the title in my life. Where are ways that statement fits into your life?
